Worthing Museum is reopening for Saturdays from Sat 8th August.

Please read carefully, as visitation slots must be booked in advance.

We are delighted to be able to reopen and welcome you back to the Museum. Our expert curatorial team of Head Curator Gerry Connolly, Fine Art Curator Emma Walder and Archaeologist James Sainsbury will be on hand to talk to guests about the collections and giving informative talks. See below for schedule.

What's available?
We will be open on Saturdays for three separate hour long slots at 10am, 11.45am and 2pm. The Museum will be open in full allowing you to explore the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. At the end of each hour visit one of our expert curators will give a 10 minute talk around a different subject every week. A great chance to see the permanent collections, exhibitions and speak to the curators.

Limited Capacity
There is a maximum of 10 people per slot to allow you to explore the museum while socially distanced from other visitors. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance. Spaces are limited so please only book if you are DEFINITELY coming and if you have booked and realise you can't make your slot - please let us know as soon as possible so someone else can visit the museum.

Safety Guidance
Masks must be worn in line with govt guidance and at entry to the Museum, sanitising stations available at entry, and there is one way traffic around more tightly packed areas of the museum. Curators will give an introductory welcome speech during which all safety guidance will be explained.

Arrival
Please try and arrive 10 mins before your booked slot. Latecomers may not be permitted entry. There will be a clear queuing system in place outside the museum ready for when the curator opens the doors. Please wear masks until inside the museum and listen to the safety guidance.

On-Sale Dates
Tickets for each week will go on sale approx four weeks in advance. Click on a specific date to see when tickets will be available. WTM members are able to access Priority booking.

Talk Schedule:
8th August - Black work embroidery. Exploring the black work embroidery on the 17th century jacket in the Museum collection.
15th August - The Patching Hoard - Contract payment for Mercenaries?
22nd August - Crinoline to bustle. The changing shape of fashion in the mid 19th Century.
29th August - Returning Health by Thomas Falcon Marshall (for obvious reasons! - very poignant).
5th Sept - John Palmer - A brief insight into the life of a Victorian naval officer.
12th Sept - Talk about two prints from the collection: The Parliament of Long Noses by Chris Orr and Unloading Oranges by Frank Brangwyn.
19th Sept - Toggles and eppelletts. The military uniform influence on Regency fashion.
26th Sept - Highdown Revisited - Genetic studies and survey at Highdown 2019/20
3rd Oct - Conserving art works on paper at Worthing Museum.

Access

All WTM venues have step free access. Allocated wheelchair user spaces and assistance dog spaces are available at most events, these must be booked via WTM Box Office for events within an auditorium. Hearing Assistance is available in all of our venues using an Infrared system. Audio description is available for most films.
