Last Sunday Worthing Theatres and Paul Holman Associates invited local children aged nine to 12 to audition for this year’s pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

At 10am long queues formed outside of the Pavilion Theatre doors as registration to audition for the seven dwarfs opened.

Then in the afternoon further queues formed as registration opened to audition for the female juvenile dancers.

The producers were looking for two teams of seven dwarfs and eight dancers, meaning 30 places were available. With over 60 children attending on the day to audition, only half could make the cut to be in the production.

Nick George, Associate Producer for Paul Holman Associates, says
It was a really difficult process to choose who gets to be in the show and who doesn’t, as we had such a talented bunch turn up on the day. We like to make sure that everyone who does audition has a great time, gains some valuable experience, and we also gave the children who weren’t chosen a free ticket to enjoy the show as a thank you. It’s great to bring the community together and give everyone the opportunity to shine on stage and we look forward to seeing our chosen stars in Snow White this Christmas

Heather Mercer, Executive Member for Customer Services at Adur & Worthing Council, says
Pantomime is all about the local community, and creating these opportunities for local boys and girls to earn a professional credit on stage and become a part of the magic this season is a real joy. With Northbrook Metropolitan College creating a giant apple to be displayed in the Pavilion Café Bar, and our partnership with local charity Chestnut Tree House, we hope this wonderful production will bring everybody together for some Christmas magic this December.”

The successful children who were chosen at the auditions will join this year’s stars of the pantomime in rehearsals from November. The cast includes the one and only pop legend Chesney Hawkes, Cbeebies Swashbuckle stars Joseph Elliott and Richard David-Caine, X-Factor’s Niki Evans and West End star Cassie Compton, with Jo Brand making a special video appearance as the Magic Mirror.
