Last Tuesday we did something which we had never done before: we held our first Family Fun Day. ..and it was a success!

Held in the Pavilion Café Bar, with magnificent views overlooking the sea, the setting could not have been a more perfect haven for families who were looking for some summer holiday entertainment away from the ever changeable weather.

The day saw families fill the Pavilion Café Bar, with children delving into the crafts whilst parents were able to get some refreshments from the café and enjoy the view (or join in with the activities, as they wished!).

The theme for the Family Fun Day was this year’s pantomime: Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. All day the children were transformed into dwarfs as they made their own dwarf hat and beard, providing the perfect photo opportunity for parents. There were also competitions to partake in, with some fantastic prizes, including a colouring competition with four tickets to the pantomime as the prize! Additionally, families were invited to make a leaf for our community tree which will be on display over the Pantomime season- be sure to come and take a look at it later in the year!

The afternoon saw two free fully-booked tours take place, which gave families an insight into how the theatre works, and the opportunity to learn some interesting facts about the history of the Pavilion Theatre.

The idea begun a few months ago when a few of us expressed a desire to do something for local families who perhaps hadn’t been to the theatre before; we wanted to show people that Worthing Theatres is a place for everyone, where families can come and have fun together. After a discussion with the team, we decided to put on a Family Fun Day, where we would invite local families to come to the theatre for a day of activities.

The day was a huge success, with people who have never been to Worthing Theatres before welcomed through the doors of the Pavilion Café Bar to enjoy the fun that was on offer.

Don’t worry if you missed out this time, because the team are already working hard on planning the next one…
